Pure white sandalwood chips ethically harvested from the heartwood of the Santalum Album Tree, a small evergreen native to India, Indonesia, and Australia.
When heated these chips release a fresh, creamy scent that’s warm, sweet, and subtly exotic. Said to promote positivity and calm.
How to Enjoy Natural Sandalwood as Incense
If you are not planning to move the incense like priests carry around a censer in church, for example, consider using a tealight candle or electric incense resin burner. When properly heated, sandalwood chips can release their fragrance for well over an hour. Most charcoal disks burn for 30 minutes or less. Charcoal can burn the chips when not properly buffered; tealight and electric burners allow for the temperature to be adjusted to perfect the release of sandalwood’s natural scent.
See the short 2-minute video utilizing a tealight burner to learn how to properly burn sandalwood.
Using Charcoal:
- Light a charcoal disc in a ventilated area and wait until it glows red (1-2 min).
- Move it to a heat-safe censer filled with sand.
- Buffer the disk with salt, ash or mica so the wood does not burn.
- Place 3-5 small white sandalwood chips on top of the buffered coals.
Using Electric Burner:
- Set the burner on low or medium (200-220°C) and let it warm up.
- Place 3-5 small chips on the plate.
- Adjust the temp to your preferred level. If the scent is sharp or smoky, lower it; if the fragrance is weak, raise it.
Never leave burning incense unattended.
